Many of you may be thinking, “Why do I need go.everyWare when I have the MS Office Suite loaded on my system?” MS Office Suite can be a wonderful tool until it hiccups and then it is not pretty. Recently I have had the opportunity to become very flustered with MS Office suite. I have been using the various MS Office products since their beginnings and loved using them until I came into the office and was unable to complete the log on onto my system. My system would load to the point where you could see the insignia for Windows and then the screen would go blank where I could not see anything. Here is where my frustration began and this was not the way I wanted to begin my day or my week with system problems as I am constantly using the calendar and email.
The folks from IT came to my assistance. We were able to bring the system back to where I could see my screen, have access to the internet, internal company links and see my file listing but not access any of the files using the MS Office Suite. The only way I could view my mail was via Webmail and in order to view any attachments the suite needed to be reloaded. So I thought, okay, I can do that and began the process of the removal/reload of the programs. While going through the reload the program stopped midway with an error message and aborted the reload. It was at the end of day so I decided I would reload it in the morning. When I arrived in the office I began the download but ran into an issue where I needed to contact our help desk. They were kind enough to assist me further and gently reminded me that I needed to initiate the start/run the program to finish the loading which I had forgot to do….a user error on my part. The help desk person continued the process of loading the MS Office Suite. While loading the software we continued to recieve an error message where the suite would stop loading midway indicating there was something going on. After trying to reload the software three times the help desk person noted that I would need to reimage my system and I am thinking, if I was just on go.everyWare I would not be having this issue. If my machine is not functioning correctly I could log into my account from any other machine and have everything right at my fingertips where I left it and not have to use some of the work arounds until my system is repaired. I still do not know what is wrong with my system and hope the reimaging resolves the problem but I know I want to move towards having all my work in go.everyWare where I know all I have to do is login and go.
